The flowering power of peony bulbs
No flower displays its full potential quite like peonies! Once the peony heads emerge, you can prepare for a colorful explosion. As soon as the plant is ready, the buds will open in no time, surprising you with beautiful, large flowers and a wonderful fragrance. It's impressive, to say the least, that a bud about 3 centimeters across can grow into a flower with a diameter of up to 15 centimeters!
Long-lasting enjoyment of peony bulbs
The peony bulbs are winter-hardy, perennialsummer bloomersThese can bloom for up to 20 years. You'll truly enjoy this flower for a long time! Plant them in September and October, and they'll bloom in May and June. The Blooming Company recommends fertilizing the peony bulbs early in the spring or adding extra compost to sandy soil. Keep the soil moist and well-drained. In October, cut the plants back to a length of 3 centimeters to prevent mold. The flowers love plenty of sunlight, so plant the bulbs in a spot in the garden where you're sure they'll get at least 5 hours of sun a day. When the peonies are in their final stages of growth, the petals will stick together a bit. This gives them one last growth boost before they open up to bees and insects and reveal themselves to the world in all their splendor.
Classic, beautiful garden plants
You wouldn't expect it, but peony bulbs, despite their name, have nothing to do with roses. They are members of the Paeoniaceae family and originate from China. There, the peony was primarily cultivated for its roots, which were said to have a fever-reducing effect. It was introduced to Europe in 1785. The choice of colors and shapes is enormous; there are over 1,000 different varieties of peonies! Flower shapes can vary from double-flowered, single-flowered, and anemone-flowered. Besides white, pink, and burgundy, they also come in lilac, salmon, soft yellow, and red. Most varieties don't grow taller than 1 meter, so give your peony some support if you see it becoming too tall and heavy. Cut a few beautiful specimens to display in a large vase on your kitchen table or in the living room. The wonderfully sweet fragrance makes the peony extra attractive, both in the garden and indoors!
