Buy Amaryllis bulbs

You can buy amaryllis bulbs for various purposes. The plant can be planted in the garden after the frost has passed, and it should be brought back indoors in September. After planting, you'll need to wait 6 to 10 weeks. Remember to soak the amaryllis bulb in a lukewarm bath for a few hours before planting it. If you bring the bulbs indoors, the plant grows best at room temperature. If the first green shoots haven't yet emerged, the bulb needs little water. But as soon as the first green shoots emerge above the soil, you can expect the beautiful flowers to unfold within a few weeks!

Amaryllis flower bulb as a house bulb or in water

The amaryllis bulb originates from South Africa and fortunately thrives in our little frog country. Many varieties and colors are available, with flower colors ranging from white to dark red to striped and multicolored. Around Christmas, the red amaryllis is incredibly popular. The amaryllis bulb can be planted as an indoor bulb in a flowerpot, but is also suitable as a dry bulb. We're increasingly seeing enthusiasts buy an amaryllis bulb and display it in a beautiful bowl along with other decorations. The bulb itself is so powerful that it can even bloom without water or soil. But there are even more possibilities with this plant:

  • In a pot. Choose a beautiful flowerpot, fill it with potting soil, and ensure the amaryllis bulb protrudes about one-third above the soil surface.
  • Flower bulb in water. Place the bulb in a bowl with a small amount of water and some other decorations for a cool effect.
  • As a cut flower in a vase. The large blooms don't need much extra to shine in a vase. Add some beautiful stems, and you have a lovely bouquet of amaryllis picked from your own garden!

Eye-catcher in house and garden

Want to buy amaryllis bulbs for your garden? Then you'll need to make sure all frost has disappeared, as they absolutely can't tolerate it. Choose a sheltered, sunny spot and plant the amaryllis bulb with the roots pointing downward. Also, remember that the bulb should be about a third above the ground. Water lightly—next to the bulb!—and after 3 to 6 weeks, you can enjoy a spectacular display of flowers! This is a real eye-catcher in your home and garden!
