Why you want Pfingstrose Red Love in your garden
Paeonia Red Charm has flowers shaped like a large ball of small, rolled petals in a rich red and an irresistible fragrance. It is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most popular red peonies.
Paeonia Red Charm has large, double red flowers that exude a wonderfully sweet fragrance in spring. We look forward to the blooms of these peonies year after year and savor the joyful moment when the large, bright red flowers are in full bloom.
Many people think you need a lot of gardening experience to get peonies to bloom. Good news for gardeners with less of a green thumb: peonies aren't difficult to get blooming. Peonies have a few simple care requirements, and if you follow them, you can enjoy these gigantic flowers for a lifetime.
The most important thing when planting a Paeonia root cutting is that it shouldn't be buried too deeply. Of course, the entire root will be in the soil, but it's important that the eyes/nose of the root (the points where the root begins to sprout) remain above the soil or are only slightly covered with soil. Planting a Paeonia too deeply will inhibit the flowering of the stems, and consequently, no flowers will develop. While the green leaves of a Peony are also very beautiful, we naturally want the beautiful, fragrant flowers in the garden.
A peony's roots are very sensitive and value a good location. Peonies don't like wet feet or dry soil, so it's important to plant them in well-drained soil. They thrive in direct sunlight, so ensure a sunny spot, though partial shade is also an option.
Peonies prefer to remain in the same location for their entire lives. It's very simple: plant the peony and leave it in the ground forever so it produces beautiful flowers year after year. While you can move or divide a peony, keep in mind that it won't flower for one to two years.
One final rule for a wonderfully fragrant bunch of peonies: peony leaves remain a beautiful green all summer long. In autumn, the leaves change color, and the plant can be cut back to 15 cm above the ground. Also, provide extra fertilizer in autumn so the plant has enough energy for next year.
